چکیده

Wave-induced forces on an armour layer unit are key parameters for assessing the stability of rubble mound coastal revetment, but how to predict them accurately and efficiently remains open question. This study explores feasibility using Morison-type equation convert numerically simulated porous media flow in into a single unit. Wave flume tests conducted, which cuboid placed sloped revetment were measured. In conjunction, numerical simulations performed OpenFOAM solver, treats as media. The validated simulation was synchronized with force measurement illustrate correlations between predicted impact force. Based these correlations, predictor, consists inertial force, drag pressure gradient lift is proposed. calibrated model can reasonably approximate temporal variation wave-induced However, it found that coefficients vary significantly dynamic number initial submergence Additional research required give sufficiently large dataset calibrating empirical formulae.

An Investigation on the Stability of Rubble Mound Breakwaters with Armour Layers of Antifer Cubes

This paper presents the results of hydraulic model tests on the stability of rubble mound breakwaters with armour layers of antifer cubes. The tests were performed using irregular waves. The effect of wave parameters and the structure slope on the stability of these artificial armour units has been investigated and the stability formulae have been derived. Finally a comparison between these for...

Artificial Intelligence and Rubble-Mound Breakwater Stability

Breakwaters are coastal structures constructed to shelter a harbour basin from waves. There are two main types: rubble-mound breakwaters, consisting of various layers of stones or concrete pieces of different sizes (weights), making up a porous mound; and vertical breakwaters, impermeable and monolythic, habitually composed of concrete caissons. This article deals with rubble-mound breakwaters....

Materials performance assessment of protective layer of rubble mound breakwaters, southern coast of Iran

This study aims to examine the performance of the rock materials in the protective layer of rubble-mound breakwaters in southern Iran, from Rostami Port in Bushehr Province to Beris Port in Sistan and Baluchestan Province. Field inspections were carried out on a great number of rubble-mound breakwaters built in the Persian Gulf and Oman Sea coastal regions to study the protective layer of these...

Advanced Numerical Simulations on the Interaction between Waves and Rubble Mound Breakwaters

In the present article a new procedure is proposed to study the interactions between maritime breakwaters (submerged or emerged) and the waves, by integrating CAD and CFD software. The approach is meant to match closely the physical laboratory test procedure, and it is oriented at analyzing the hydrodynamic aspects of the phenomenon (overtopping, breaking, run-up, reflection, transmission) and ...

Parametric Study on Wave Interaction with a Porous Submerged Rubble Mound Breakwater Using Modified N-S Equations and Cut-Cell Method

In this paper wave transformation in a submerged sloped breakwater and its hydraulic performance was simulated by developing a numerical model in Fortran. The code was established by combining porous flow and a two-phase model using VOF method. Modified Navier-Stokes and k-ε equations implemented to the model to simulate the flow in porous media. Cut cell method was modified to simulate...
